Professor of Administrative Law, European Law and International Law at the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon.

Masters Degree of Law 1966, LLM Public Law and Economic Law 1968, PhD 1985, Professor of Law 1986, Full Professor ("Catedrático") since 1998.

Jean Monnet Chair in European Constitutional and Administrative Law, Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence of the Lisbon University.

Fausto de Quadros has held visiting Professorships at Universities in France (namely the Robert Schumann University, Strasbourg), Germany (including the Academy of Administrative Sciences, Speyer), and the United States and has participated on a number of academic juries in Universities of France, Brasil, Macao, Canada and Portugal. He regularly advises governments and corporations on matters of European Law, Administrative Law and International Law. He advised Austria and Poland on the preparation of their respective accessions to the Council of Europe and to the European Union. He has acted as consultant for the OECD in relation to Public Administration reform of a number of member States.

He has participated in numerous International Conferences and Symposiums principally on European Law and Public Law and has been a member of various European and Internationals scientific advisory panels on the preparation of the Treaties of Maastricht, Amsterdam, Nice, the European Constitutional Treaty and the Treaty of Lisbon.

Fausto de Quadros has been involved in the writing of some of the most relevant laws on the implementation and consolidation of democracy in Portugal, since 1974. He has given hearings to the Portuguese Parliament in all the revisions of the Portuguese Constitution since 1974. Further, he has been invited to parliamentary Committee hearings of the Legal Affairs and Constitutional Affairs Committees of the European Parliament.

He is invited regularly to arbitrate in national and trasnational proceedings, both in Portugal and abroad. He was ad hoc arbitrator of "Mercosul" ("Mercado Comum do Sul") by appointment of the Brazilian Government. In 2009 he was appointed by the Portuguese Government as Arbitrator to be the European Union Representative in the Appellate Body of the WTO.
He has been a member of the Portuguese Bar since 1974, and has been a practicing lawyer for the European Court of Human Rights and of the European Court of Justice since 1986.

Fausto de Quadros is a member of a number of scientific associations in European and Latin American countries. He is the official representative of the Portuguese Government on the High Council of the European University Institute, in Florence and the Consulting Committee of the Academy of European Law, in Trier.
